Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge

2011

International teams competing to deliver the most effective cooperative vehicle-infrastructure system in predetermined traffic scenarios: that is the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge. An international and unique challenge in the field of cooperative driving. The GCDC aims to accelerate the implementation of these systems and contribute significantly to alleviate traffic problems worldwide. To that end, a predefined scenario was enacted and shock wave damping tests with CACC vehicles were performed. The primary focus was on driving in close proximity to the vehicle in front (fuel reduction) and on maintaining smooth traffic flow (throughput).
